In celebration of Halcyon's 75th anniversary, the 2025 Halcyon annual year box is inspired by the Greek legend of “Alycone and Ceyx” from which the Halcyon name is derived from.
The legend tells the story of Aeolus, father of Alcyone, who every January calmed the winds and the waves so that his daughter, in form of a kingfisher, could safely make her nest. Hence, the term “halcyon days” came to signify a period of great peace and blissful contentment.
The lid of this box depicts Alcyone swooping down over her beloved Ceyx.
